밀워키 한인회(KAAM)는 1968년에 처음 설립되어, 올해로 창립 58주년을 맞이했습니다. 반세기가 넘는 시간 동안 우리 밀워키 한인회가 굳건히 자리 잡을 수 있었던 것은, 역대 회장님들과 임원진들의 아낌없는 헌신, 그리고 위스콘신주 밀워키 지역에 뿌리를 내리고 서로 단결해 온 한인 동포 여러분의 협력과 노고 덕분입니다.
그동안 밀워키 한인회는 광복절 기념 야유회, 연말 문화 행사, 한국학교 지원 등을 통해 흩어져 있는 동포들을 하나로 모으고, 우리의 아름다운 문화적 뿌리를 지켜내는 따뜻한 구심점 역할을 해왔습니다. 비록 대도시처럼 거대한 한인타운이 형성되어 있지는 않지만, 오히려 그렇기에 더욱 끈끈한 개인적 네트워크와 종교·문화 기관들을 중심으로 단단하고 모범적인 한인 커뮤니티를 가꾸어 올 수 있었습니다.
지금의 밀워키 한인회는 그동안 다져온 동포 사회의 단합된 힘을 바탕으로, 지역 사회의 저소득층과 이웃을 돕는 봉사 활동을 실천하며 미국 주류 사회 내에서 존경받는 커뮤니티로 성장하고 있습니다. 또한, 우리의 자랑스러운 유산을 이어받을 차세대 한인들과 현세대를 잇고, 한인 사회와 미국 지역 사회를 연결하는 든든한 교두보로서 새로운 미래를 향해 나아가고 있습니다.
밀워키 한인회는 위스콘신 남부 지역에 거주하는 한인 동포들을 대변하는 대표 기관입니다. 우리의 최우선 목표는 동포들의 권익을 증진하고 옹호하는 것이며, 크고 작은 동포 단체는 물론 지역 정부 기관, 영리 기업 등과의 긴밀한 파트너십을 통해 우리 커뮤니티의 위상을 높이는 것입니다.

“Welcome to the Korean American Association of Milwaukee.”

The Korean American Association of Milwaukee (KAAM) was established in 1968 and proudly celebrates its 58th anniversary this year. For over half a century, KAAM has stood strong as a pillar of our community. This enduring legacy is a testament to the selfless dedication of our past presidents and board members, as well as the unwavering unity, cooperation, and hard work of the Korean American residents who have laid down deep roots here in the Greater Milwaukee area.
Over the years, KAAM has served as a warm, central gathering point—bringing together a geographically dispersed community through meaningful events such as the National Liberation Day picnics, year-end cultural galas, and dedicated support for the local Korean School. While we may not have a massive, bustling Koreatown like some larger metropolitan cities, this unique environment has fostered a remarkably tight-knit, exemplary community centered around strong personal networks and local religious and cultural institutions.
Today, building upon this unified strength, KAAM is evolving into a deeply respected community within the American mainstream. We take pride in giving back through community service and outreach programs that support low-income families and neighbors in need. Furthermore, we are actively forging a path toward a brighter future, serving as a vital bridge that connects the first generation with the next, and links the Korean American community with the broader American society.
As the representative organization for the Korean American population residing in Southeastern Wisconsin, our highest priority is to promote and advocate for the rights and interests of our community. We strive to elevate the profile of Korean Americans by building close partnerships with various ethnic organizations, local government agencies, and commercial enterprises.
